OUTWARD BOUND ODYSSEY EXPEDITION A SUCCESS!

Two Outward Bound 30's, "Rip Hudner" and "Ritt" have just completed a 2500 mile journey from the Outward Bound Sea Program's southern base in Key Largo, FL to their home base in Wheeler's Bay, ME.  The Odyssey Expedition was crewed by the Outward Bound instructors, with goals of learning more about the new boats and how to teach in them, improving seamanship skills, and seeking out adventure.   The boats performed amazingly, in conditons ranging from downpour to 30 knots and waves, with no breakdowns.  This incredible expedition started in mid-April, and finished on June 5.  Multiple port calls were made along the way, including a big event here in Newport.

AMERICA 3 IN PALM BEACH - INSTALLATION A SUCCESS!

The Society of the Four Arts in Palm Beach, Florida hosted Bill Koch's 1992 Cup Boat, America3, for five exciting weeks of public display, hung on rod rigging in similar fashion to our previous exhibit at the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston. Sadly her time spend on display was short-lived (only five weeks) and she is now under wraps in Portsmouth, RI, eagerly awaiting the next destination!

CUP BOATS AT MUSEUM OF FINE ARTS BOSTON

Rodger Martin Design has been involved in an exciting project for Mr. William Koch. America 3, the 1992 America's Cup winner, and Il Moro di Venezia, her competitor, are on display in front of the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston, MA now until November 13 2005. Our design concept is to support the boats so they are "sailing on land" - with minimal structure beneath them - and to do so we have designed a support system involving tethering the boats to ground with a network of rod rigging. The yacht display is part of a full installation at the museum entitled "Things I Love: The Many Collections of William I. Koch."
